| Tropical hardwood in the garden is durable, tough and natural. But it does mean that trees have to be cut in the tropics. The alternative choice is using Tech-Wood®. This is a product with the same appearance and durability as tropical hardwood, with the same characteristics, including a natural greying over a period of time. There is one main difference: Tech-Wood® consists of 70% soft wood fibres. The fibres are individually encapsulated with a type of plastic that has minimal environmental impact. |
Important advantages of Tech-Wood® Decking:
(1) Always consistent quality: Thanks to the unique, patented production process, all aspects of Tech-Wood® Decking can be managed and monitored perfectly. This means no knots, no changes in grain, consistent dimensions, watertight, easy installation. In other words: no waste during processing.
(2) Can be used outside in untreated form: Tech-Wood® when used untreated outside will become grey after a certain amount of time. When painting or varnishing, the ends do not need to be treated. This makes Tech-Wood® Decking the ideal alternative to tropical hardwood.
(3) Process with standard tools: Tech-Wood® can be fixed in the same way as hardwood, with the usual tools needed for sawing, drilling and screwing.
(4) Tech-Wood® is a sufficient non-slip surface and therefore safer: Tech-Wood® has been tested by the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research for its non-slip qualities. The tests show that the material exceeds the requirements. The wood retains sufficient grip in wet and dry conditions. It even gained a very high rating non-slip rating for barefoot use.
(5) No splinters: Tech-Wood® does not splinter. Sawing the wood creates an attractive, smooth cut. This makes Tech-Wood® highly suitable for situations where children are playing or where people walk barefoot.
(6) Easy to clean: Tech-Wood® Decking is easy to clean with a high pressure cleaner. In contrast to traditional wood, the surface will not be damaged and no fibres will be loosened.
